Crone believes buildings can stimulate our senses, encouraging us to look up, breathe in and absorb our surroundings. The best of them stand testament to the rich history of a locale, and embrace its future excitedly, both hands ready. It’s easier said than done, of course, which is why our team are constantly researching and fine tuning their methods. We’ve found intelligent architecture unites technology, sustainability and human emotion—and our decades-strong networks in the design and construction industries help us achieve that balance faster. Communities are changing. The way we relate to others is elastic, constantly shifting and evolving.
Working with a complex inner-city site, Crone overcame multiple site constraints to achieve a light, airy commercial building in tune with the modern workplace. By using the liftcore as a structural beam, Crone was able to span the railway easement, allowing a larger floor plate that maxmises tenant flexibility, outlook and natural light. Different glass frits modulate the light on different edges of the building, and give 180 Brisbane by Daisho its distinctive “Brisbane River” facade. A glass canopy protects the new through site-link, activated by retail.
